I am currently working on several multidisciplinary projects that study the intersections of law enforcement, policing, and state-society relations in the global South.

  1. Policing and Technology: This project expands upon debates from law, criminology, socio-legal studies, and critical security studies, to explore the interlinkages between digitalisation, algorithmic governance, and policing in postcolonial contexts such as Pakistan.

  2. Cybercrime Laws and Enforcement: This project comparatively studies the enforcement and application of cybercrime laws in South Asian and Southeast Asian legal systems, and their socio-legal impact.

  3. Police Pluralisation: This collaborative project investigates police pluralisation and the patchworked provision of security across public, private, hybrid, state, and non-state actors and institutions in urban areas of the global South. This research is being supported by funding from the BA-Leverhulme Small Grant Scheme and the Centre for Global Cities Policing (UCL).

  4. Terrains of Disappearances: This collaborative project seeks to create an international, multidisciplinary network of academics, artists, and practitioners exploring the multiple manifestations of disappearance, loss, grief, and absence across geographies. This project is led by Professor Nichola Khan and is being supported by the AHRC.

  5. Urban Violence and Insecurity: I am currently working on several collaborative projects that explore themes of urban violence, insecurity, and urban governance in the global South through interdisciplinary perspectives.
