I am currently working on several multidisciplinary projects that study the intersections of policing, security, and violence, including:

  1. Policing and digitalisation: This project expands upon debates from law, criminology, sociology, and surveillance studies, to explore the interlinkages between counterinsurgency, digitalisation, and postcolonial policing in countries such as Pakistan.

  2. Pluralisation of policing and urban security: This collaborative project investigates police pluralisation and the patchworked provision of security across public, private, hybrid, state, and non-state actors and institutions in urban areas of Pakistan. This research is being supported by funding from the BA-Leverhulme Small Grant Scheme and the Centre for Global Cities Policing (UCL).

  3. Terrains of Disappearances: This collaborative project seeks to create an international, multidisciplinary network of academics, artists, and practitioners exploring the multiple manifestations of disappearance, loss, grief, and absence across geographies. This project is led by Professor Nichola Khan and is being supported by the AHRC.

  4. Urban violence and insecurity: I am currently working on several collaborative projects that explore themes of urban violence, insecurity, and urban governance in the global South.

  5. State punitiveness and legal repression: Through collaborative projects, I am researching the intersections of legal repression, state punitiveness, and political punishment in hybrid and authoritarian environments of South Asia.
